British Council, Alhamra to explore arts

LAHORE :British Council’s Director Arts Ms Chantal Harrison-Lee visited the Lahore Arts Council at Alhamra Art Centre, The Mall on Monday and took keen interest in the diverse sections of the Arts Council. Alhamra promotes the soft image of the country.This message was expressed during the meeting between LAC Chairperson Moneeza Hashmi, Executive Director Ather Ali Khan and British Council’s Director Arts Ms Chantal Harrison. LAC and Ms Harrison-Lee agreed to empower their management levels and assured people-to-people contact to strengthen bilateral relations and agreed to explore new opportunities in arts, literature and other cultural dimensions.

Chairperson Moneeza Hashmi along with LAC Executive Director Ather Ali Khan briefed Ms Chantal Harrison-Lee and her team about Alhamra Art Gallery, Academy of Performing Arts, Adbi Bethak and cultural activities in the council. British Council’s Director Arts appreciated the hard work of Alhamra Arts Council to promote the art-loving image of Pakistan around the world. She praised the Alhamra for the promotion of arts and culture.

Ms Harrison-Lee expressed that Pakistan has a long-standing history of art and cultural relationship with the UK. On the occasion, Chairperson Ms Moneeza Hashmi said to Ms Harrison-Lee that Alhamra would always give its best to boost the mutual relationship with all countries. She also recognised the services of the British Council in Pakistan for the promotion of arts and culture. Ather Ali Khan presented a souvenir and some books on Alhamra to Ms Chantal Harrison-Lee and said “We are really happy to know that British Council has a talented and dedicated staff to concentrate on different affairs in Pakistan. It was a great pleasure to meet Ms Chantal Harrison-Lee, a lot of best wishes for all of you,” he added.
