LAHORE: The Lahore Arts Council has revived its ‘Talent Hunt Show’ after a gap of some two years with a new title --‘Alhamra Live’.
“The show has been revived and would become a permanent feature of the council’s cultural calendar”, said Athar Ali Khan, the Executive Director of the LAC at the inaugural ceremony of the show. “Today’s was an informal show and we are going to release a schedule of ‘Alhamra Live’. We shall invite members of public to perform on the stage and show their singing talent. Shields and certificates would also be awarded to the winners of every show, most probably it would be a monthly activity,” he added.
The executive director said that for, ‘Alhamra Live’ pre-auditions would be conducted and the best voices would be given an opportunity to perform in Alhamra’s grand musical evenings along with seasoned artists.On Saturday, a large gathering enjoyed the music gala organised to celebrate revival of the show in the lawns of Alhamra Art Center, The Mall.
The event opened with instrumental music and the musicians played some famous film numbers, including film Armaan’s hit song Akailey Na Jana.Those who performed in front of a good number of audience had come to the event in response to an LAC advertisement regarding the show’s revival.The first performer, Amaar Ahmed, sang the Junoon’s hit number Zamanay Kay Andaaz Badlay Gaye. The performance, though rated average, was enjoyed by the audience. Then came Syed Imran Jaffri, an Alhamra employee, who sang extremely well. He sang two songs -- Mein Tenu Samjhawan Ki and Piyar Dil Mein Jaga.
Two young girls Mayra and Aleena sang together two songs, Lag Ja Galay and Humay Tum Say Piyar Kitna. Their performance was appreciated.Some other singers also performed on the occasion and enthralled the audience. There were also some instrumentalists who performed on guitar.
The event was conducted by Alhmra Performing Arts Classes in charge Niaz Hussain Lakhwera.
